I have four FT O-72 switches as part of a crossover of two main loops. They are not electrically ganged, but operate independently from each other. The switches lay flat and are not binding.

The switch in question (#3) randomly just switches from through to diverging by itself with no input. It does not do it the other way around. Sometimes it will do it immediately upon me throwing the switch to through using the manual controller and other times it may go 10-15 minutes or even an entire operating session without happening. Very annoying because all of a sudden one train will end up on the same track as another and I have to go into collision avoidance mode !

There's no foreign material on the tracks; the points seem fine; and it does not appear to be shorting.

Video is attached - The initial switch is me throwing the switch into the through position and each time the switch goes back to diverging. If I hold the controller in the through position, the switch tries to move against my hand which is shown aboutmid-way through the video.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

There are gremlins there for sure. Although it is a remote (pun intended) possibility, I would first disconnect the remote controller at the control (easy to do) and see if that does it. If not you are going to have to operate. Because it doesn't instantly move (chattering) I don't think it's something fouling the non-derail rail so that leaves the circuit board itself. I'd switch it out and see if that fixes the issue.
