Don - you are correct.  While many railroads ordered GP7s with steam generators for heating and cooling, the flat long hood on the passenger variant had electrical gear for train lighting.  A few other roads ordered this option including Boston & Maine as well as Chicago North Western.  On the CNJ they actually were dual service as they pulled commuters trains during rush hour and did their freight duties on during non-peak passenger hours. 

I like the MPC Geeps. I don't have PRR ones, but the ones I have are great runners.
