Plastic wheels..? or..?

The only help I can offer is to answer your your question about plastic wheels.  Yes, Lionel surely did make plastic wheels - in the MPC era.

Thank-you for the offer but while I was looking in my parts bin and shelf I found a 153! looks like this is the way to go I will probably use a 153 electronic one   ...It took some time to figure this one out!   But thanks again for the offer ...DANiel

Your Welcome Dan. Yeah your 153ir be better. I had these plastic wheels on a lionel coal hopper that thing would not stay on the track had to put metal wheels on it it was to light  

Gee, I had some plastic wheels around and I tossed them!  Never thought there would ever be a use for them.

I had about 40 wheel sets and trashed them as well.  Didn't think there would be a need!    The lower end MPC cars had these on them.

Looking to replace some of the cars that have plastic wheels and put metal wheels on them. Having a hard time finding metal wheels and axles. I looked through the forums sponsors for the axles, wheel assemblies. I don't find anything there though any help out there?

There seems to be a use for everything, doesn't there.  I toss everything in a big box - the problem is I have to many boxes now and can't remember where I put what when I need it.  I think I have some plastic wheels, too, - although like you I might have tossed them, but if I do, I have no idea where to find them quickly.

I tossed all my plastic wheels, but I keep metal sets when I get them.  I was refurbing a bunch of K-Line cars that survived the Sandy floods, and their wheels were all pitted, the Lionel wheelsets fit right in.

I think I'm going to save my plastic wheels for the working railyard I plan to set up. I'll stack them right next to the dumpster, So I know they are.
