I just read through the interesting postings regarding concrete plants, and
it called to mind a 1956 RMC?? ad for a (probably HO) kit for a pole and tie plant. I plan a logging and coal mine branch, and have coal mines built and retail coal bunkers and loco coal facitities for them to serve (and make sense that the trains do deliver), but to keep a "branch line" and somewhat rustic theme, I would like a facility that shortline logging trains would serve, and this came to mind.
The kit looked like structures were simple with dedicated tracks and cars
in "concrete? tunnels" where carloads of poles and ties were treated with creosote (this sounds like a carcinogenic work environment, but I am modeling 1940), The kit ad does not show a close up picture with detail, or I'd scratchbuiild a duplicate, if I could find that issue.
Anybody have photos of or directions to an internet site that does show a pole and tie plant? I understand one existed on the DT&I at Greenfield, Ohio. Thanks.
