Power-route the Atlas Turnout Frog? 2-rail

Is it still necessary to power-route the frog on Atlas turnouts? 2-rail if that makes a difference.

It depends. If the wheels with pickups on the locos are spread apart farther than the length of the frog, then they should span it and pickup from outside the frog. If you have some short wheel base locos and using long frogs - ie 7 1/2, maybe you need to.

It does increase reliability but by how much is opinion.
