After reading several post on the subject I am still a little confused. I know that Lionel transformers should not be used and that a Z4000 is best. BUT, Can I power the channel inputs of a WTIU with a Z500, Z750 or Z1000? What about using a Commander to power it (I believe I saw that this was a definite no).

Z500, Z750 or Z1000 are all pure sine wave output transformers- with no electronics. They are ideal to use- only caution then becomes- anytime you use multiple physical transformers- phasing must be tested and adjusted as required.

Powerhouse 180 fine- again a brick transformer with sine wave output.

Older ZW- no electronics- fine- pure sine wave.

DCS commander (50-1028)  has it's own issues and outputs DC- why on earth would you feed that into a WTIU????
