@JR Junction Train & Hobby, could you just pre-order it online? Just need to create an account, right?

Dave,
You can pre-order on our web site but it is much better to just e-mail us your pre-order to junction@twcny.rr.com or telephone us during business hours at (315) 451-6551. That way you don't have to pay for them now...and NO DEPOSITS REQUIRED ON PRE-ORDERS! Thank you!
Awesomesauce, just popped you an email with my order. This is great, thanks to everyone that made all of this possible. Always great to add more cabooses to my ever growing railroad empire.
Email submitted. Thank you. Keep the B&A rolling stock coming!
I submitted my email for a B&A caboose, hope the Rutland one goes through!
@PSU1980 posted:I have never put kadee couplers on my milk cars but after looking at your video, they look great. So I am going to convert them.
1. Do you have a video on how to remove the factory - Lionel coupler and install the new kadee coupler?
2. Is their a specific coupler to purchase and who would have them? MictoMark?
3. Does the 2MM screw come with the kadee coupler? Where do I get them? MicroMark?
Thanks,
Kevin
The Kadee conversion of the Lionel milk cars are super easy and takes about 10 minutes if you take your time.
I’ve done a video on it here:

Say it ain't so Pat, say it ain't so. Haha. I like my supersized couplers thank you very much. I hope the cabooses have supersized couplers.
The only milk cars I’ve converted to kadee are the reissue from two years ago because the redesign was a joke. The milk cars from the 2000’s those are best lobster claws Lionel ever produced and I really don’t want to mess with them.
but we are getting sidetracked here. Who wants a Rutland caboose. We need more interest, let’s get it done.
@PRRMP54 posted:One if only if if is EASILY convertible to two-rail.
I’m with Dave,
With the Kadee mounts on the new ends, I’m going to add them to my cabooses. All of the milk cars I have already have them, so these will need Kadees.
I must admit that I’m pretty excited about them.
thanks!

The Boston & Albany's are going quick....much faster than I had anticipated, although we have a few more weeks to increase our overall production numbers if needed. After that, I will continue to take pre-orders until they are all reserved. The New York Central "Syracuse" and "Rochester" custom-runs are also doing well. Those I will probably increase the production quantity. Take my advice and don't procrastinate. Remember, NO deposits required for pre-orders!
Just placed my pre-order for both NYC and one B&A. Thank you JR Junction for running these cabooses.

The NYCHS has a youtube video on NYC cabooses thats worth watching at https://youtu.be/fvIJq9z9n7I
@JR Junction Train & Hobby posted:Thanks for your question. To expand on others that answered your question, the New York Central prototype Pacemaker Caboose was built on top of a boxcar frame, thus it was longer than the traditional wood side caboose. I have only seen a few true-prototypical O scale cabooses made in brass, and they are not easy to find. (I would like one myself!) Others have pointed out that MTH, Lionel and others has made Pacemaker cabooses in several different variations. Since they are so plentiful in the second-hand market, I will not be producing one with this run, but that doesn't mean maybe another dealer won't choose to produce it. I do appreciate your interest in the Pacemaker caboose. Here is a photograph of the last one that MTH produced in 2017.
Here is a link to the MTH Product page for this caboose:
https://www.mthtrains.com/20-91595I hope you may consider one or more of the cabooses we are offering!
Just to expand on what Phil posted, here are two prototypical Pacemaker cabooses.
Top is a brass one made by NJ International, below is one started by Malcom aka Brother Love here. This started out as one of his “seconds” and received in gray paint with no frame. I have been gradually adding the details but got sidetracked some time ago. Perhaps if there was enough interest Malcom might get talked into doing another run.
Lastly is a Pacemaker next to an older MTH 19000 class showing the difference in length.

Thank you for the great link. We’ve watched it before and there is some great research that was done, although not all of it was correct. At one point Dave mentioned that there was no evidence for the horizontal grab Irons on the ends of the car body. Yet, if you look at MTH’s model as well as the CNY-NRHS caboose, you will see that they have them. In addition, if you look at the photographs of the Boston Albany cabooses, you will see that they have them as well. Knowing that are caboose, as well as the Boston and Albany cabooses, we’re built in Oswego, this gives us anecdotal evidence that Oswego used this design feature but perhaps not all the shops did.
So we ensured that we found photographic evidence to make the models as accurate as possible.
Stay tuned for more details!

@Dave_C posted:I’ll certainly going to give it a look when the artwork is all up. The best looking and correctly detailed is probably a 2 rail brass model by NJ brass. With a little work you can adapt Atlas trucks to it. The downside is the price. I have one in bare brass to paint and decal into a B&A. Below is a NYC one.
I do like the Williams as a starting point. Thank you Mario for digging up that old thread. I have one of those to redo. Plan to add queens posts and truss rods.
Lionel’s is pretty correct design wise. It’s just the clunky details from the 80’s that still exist today. One of my Rutland conversions. I re did the handrails using square brass stock that fit the holes in the platform and then bent up new rails using phosfor bronze wire and soldered them on. Replaced the brake staff with piano wire and a Precision Scale brake wheel. Tichy grab irons were also added.
Dave, do you happen to have the part number for the Atlas trucks?…or did you rob them from something?…..thanks
Pat
Here you go Pat. I’m guessing your doing up the brass one that was on your bench.
I took a few pics. of what I did as far as modifying the truck. The caboose came with marker lights that looked good even though they didn’t’ light. I removed the coupler along with the top mounting piece. Then filed down the mounting hole of the truck.
I used the mounting screws that came with the car. I want to say the plastic bushing is from a TMCC driver board.
The car rides as it should as far as ride height. I have an unpainted one still in the box that I have to get to.
