I would shut everything down. Then start the program on your computer first and follow the step-by-step instructions of the program in the order listed.  Make sure you have the correct cables in place and that they are fully seated.  I assume that since you get to the point where it says to hold down the button, you have already seen the message that the TIU has been found???

I notice you use the plural "remotes."  Since this is happening with more than one remote, it probably is a problem in the connections.

I'm afraid I've run out of ideas.  Maybe some of the other forumites can jump in with more.

When I was doing upgrades at the MTH get together in York, I would occasionally make a stupid mistake and have to restart.  Look for such things as forgetting to remove the stereo jumper cable when doing the remote, or a tired finger syndrome.  Are the remote batteries fully charged or, if not rechargeable, new?

How many remotes are not taking the upgrade?  IS this tied in with your other query, regarding the USB/serial cable?  FYI, I use Windows 7 and a R-S USB-serial converter cable with no problem upgrading to 4.3.
