I just received the new legacy Frisco sw7 and upon trying to move it stops and the cab light blinks. After pushing reset button it stops and blinks again. Anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks for any replies.

check traction tires are not binding
Thanks for the reply...I will look at that.
Does not seem to be problem with traction tires.
Make sure to lubricate the oil points in the instructions. Do it again lightly.
Try starting the engine in the opposite direction first. If you get any movement, run that direction for a while. My GG1 had tight gears that would give me Cab blinks going forward, it would run backwards.
Start the engine at speed step 50-70 with room to run for a while. If there is any hope of movement, a higher speed step could get it moving. Starting at a crawl will only give you more Cab blinks if gears are tight.
Best wishes on getting your engine running.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
1. Lubricate the loco - these have arrived with little or no lubrication to gears and wheel sets.
2. Check for binding on the trucks and make sure the drive shaft is intact
3. Double check the button for RUN/PROGRAM is in the RUN position.
Mine arrived with the RUN/PROGRAM switch not fully in RUN mode.
Have you counted how many blinks are in the sequence of blinks? The back of the owner's manual defines what the blinks mean.
Thank you for all the replies! It's so discouraging to have failures right out of the box...unfortunately I have come to expect this as has happened many times over the years. But I remain loyal to lionel because I get much satisfaction when they work right! The blinks are single blinks! I will see if the run switch is fully engaged. I thought that I had read earlier about someone whose sw7 made grinding noises with movement in that there was no grease in gears? It will not move but 1/4 inch or so in forward or reverse before blinking. How do you start forward with speed step 50? Just spin dial in forward fast? Thank you.
You could get an RA and let Lionel figure it out. But if you are used to working on these you could take the body off and see if anything is rubbing on the motor flywheel.
Good luck getting an RA. I have been waiting three days for Lionel to send me a RA for a 6-85176 C&O 2-6-6-2 #1522 that Dean in Lionel Service sent me as a replacement for my Vision Line GG1 #4913 that Lionel could not fix after three separate trips into Lionel.
The 6-85176 C&O arrived broken in the box with white paint over run onto the left walkway. The engine is also not whistling on Sequence Control AUX 1 on the 990 Remote. It appears to be miss-programmed at the factory in China.
People at Lionel answer the phones, but then nothing happens. When Lionel gets the C&O engine, they are supposed to cut me a check for $1,219.94 for the Vision Line GG1 #4913 that they can not get to work.
Good Luck.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
Again thank you for the replies. I wonder how hard it is to remove the body...Anyone done this?
The sound on this is really good...nice deep bass diesel sound.
This thread should help. Scroll down for instructions on accessing the gearboxes : https://ogrforum.com/...-with-new-lionel-sw7

Thank you Ricko...that's the thread i was looking for. Don't know if it will help but worth a try! Yes the sounds are much better than my s2s!
Can anyone tell me how to remove the cab and/or good on the sw7?
Hood!
Can anyone tell me if the hood removes separately from the cab? I have the front of the hood loose and raised up but still connected to cab at front of cab. Don't know if it's a snap connection there?
