Hello

Last friday ! received my second P3 train, the PRR s-1( very excited). Last night, it derailed and now I can't get the DCS remote to recognize the train. error message keeps saying no train on the track. I deleted the train from the system, thinking that may help, nothing. I tried making sure the connections where connected, and they are, still nothing. Could use some advice.

Thanks

I can't remember how to do it. I have done factory reset before but with me not looking at the remote i would be able  figure it out. I hope Barry chimes in to tell you more and also do you have barry's book or the onwer's manual for the remote that will help a plus and also if you can't get your engine to add to the remote you can't do a factory reset. You may have to tether your remote and tiu with 4 wire phone line to get your engine to add.

Factory Reset: Menu/Advanced/Reset Engine/Factory Reset, select the engine and press the thumbwheel twice.

The wil also delete the engine from the DCS Remote. Then, attempt to re-add the engine.

If that doesn't do it, try a Recover Engine as described on page 39 of The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition:

Under DCS 4.10 or higher, to recover a PS2 engine that has a DCS ID# that's outside of the normal range, proceed as follows

• Set the engine on a piece of track controlled by TIU #1. The Recover Engine feature only works with TIU #1. You must not have any other engines powered up on any track connected to TIU #1 while attempting to recover an engine

• Apply power to TIU #1

• Power on the DCS Remote

• Press the Menu button and use the thumbwheel to scroll to SYSTEM. Press the thumbwheel to select it

• Use the thumbwheel to scroll to RECOVER ENGINE. Press the thumbwheel to select it

• The remote will display "Attempting Recovery of Lost Engine, Please wait!!!"

• If the remote is able to recover the engine it will display "Engine Recovered" and return to the Engine Setup menu. The newly recovered engine will be automatically Factory Reset by the remote. Refer to section DCS Menus, Advanced Menu later in this book for an explanation of the Factory Reset command

• Turn TIU #1 off and then back on

• The engine may now be added to the DCS remote using the ADD ENGINE command as

described in section DCS Menus, System Menu earlier in this book

This and a whole lot more is all in MTH’s “The DCS O Gauge Companion 2nd Edition", available for purchase as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store!

Wow, thanks Barry. Yes I do have your book, (next book, should be the Idiots Guide to DCS, you can bata test it on me). Got it at York, at the suggestion of Mr Muffin aka Steve Nelson. I will try your suggestion tomorrow.

To be clear, I deleted the engine from the system, and now the remote will not communicate with the engine. Your suggestion, if i understand what you are saying, is to attempt to recovery a deleted engine.

Love this engine, would not want to have to send it to MTH for repair.

Thanks for the information.
