I have a left & right 042 switches joined together, the left one works great. The right one will not throw from the remote switch & when I try to change direction by turning the switch block manually it chatters & will not throw. Thank you in advance for your replies.

Check to ensure that the automatic non-derailing control rails (inside rails at the "Y" of the switch) are not touching their adjacent rails.
Barry has it. Had that problem with someones layout and that is what I discovered.
Barry & Curtish I checked your suggestion and rails are not touching. Any further suggestions ?. Thanks.

Not that I doubt you but you really need to make sure the gap is there all the way to the bottom of the rail. On my friends layout it looked like it was there but really wasn't. I opened it up wit a dremel and WALA everything worked. Just saying!
If you really want to be sure and the switch can be removed, check it with a meter set to ohms. You may be surprised!

Check the copper clips under the rails. Should not be touching.
Curtish, you mentioned you opened it up with a Dremel, could you tell me what part of the rail you did this to, did you cut it ?.
