-Is QSI sound similar to MTH PS1?  If so, a chopped wave transformer (ie. Lionel CW-80) could be the cause of the erratic sound.    Stated above that you have a Z750 (sine wave?)

After watching your video.  It does seem like it could be some type of control or power board issue.  Since you have tried a reg. 9volt.  Checked all the wire connections to the boards.  Maybe someone with more QSI knowledge will chime in.  Since all my QSI (PS1) engines get gutted and converted to TMCC.

Do you have an old Lionel (postwar) transformer handy? If so, check it out with that one. If it operates normally, the controller on your Z750 is putting out a dirty sine wave. MTH Proto-1 engines had additional circuitry that solved [some] incompatibilities with electronic transformers.

Another thing that helps is putting a 100uF to 200uF NON-POLARIZED electrolytic capacitor across the hot/common leads to the track. This filters out some of the drop-off that occurs with electronic transformers. It's a cheap fix if you can find them. Remember, to use non-polarized electrolytics; the regular ones will short and explode.

I had a U25B, and I had problems with a BCR installed. It doesn't seem to have enough power with the QSI system. Change back to a Alkaline battery. As suggested, try a postwar transformer from a friends layout. It those two thing don't correct it, the power board is bad. Does the guy you bought it from tried it before sending it to you?

If the Z750 is an early production model, that may be the problem. The early version of the Z750 was not compatible with Proto-1, and probably not with the QSI electronics (most likely QSI-OEM) in the Weaver U25B. MTH corrected the incompatibility in a revised version of the Z-750. I do not know how to tell the difference between the two versions unless you have the original box, which was yellow on the old version and dark orange on the newer.

Thanks Jim!!!! Yeah i may have to try that old postwar and see how it works but what don't make sense. My mth transformer will run my mth F3A engine with PS1 with no problems and my lionel CW80 runs my mth F3A fine too. Gilly i called weaver and talk to Gary he's going to fix it for me. They have great service and they go out of there way to help you.

Hey Guys!!! I wanted to give you an update on my weaver chessie U25B engine. I talk to weaver model's today and they said the power board was bad and also the speaker in the engine and also said the BCR was not the problem either and said all the wires were fine too. Cost me 40.00 to get fixed and plus shipping not bad. I will post an update video when i get it back.
