You can program then in the Edit Engine, page 38 of Barry's 2nd edition.

The rear lamp may just not be seated in the tender, open it up and look.

Thanks John, since I am a novice to the DCS (only used arounf the holidays), I am not sure on how to program.

Did you check the page I mentioned?

This can/will edit the description info in the remote but not in the engine.  If you have access to a MTH tech and/or dealer their loader can change the info in the engine.

As Barry says, wrong on the first count, but right on the second count.  The Dealer Loader will allow a permanent change.

Train Lover the bulb may be different because of being a prototype.  Unscrew the bulb and see if you see a different voltage marking.  The easy thing to do is swap the bulbs and see if the dim one follows the bulb.

It may be that some one used a 12V vice 6V bulb.

If there is a tech in your area he/she can load the serial data to give you a permanent name.

if one takes this engines and loads it onto a different/new remote you are saying that the new edited description will in fact appear in this new remote?

Yes, that's correct.

Now that is interesting!  It is not how I previously understood it.  I am going to have to try it.

It stays until you do a factory reset on the engine, then it reverts to whatever is loaded by the factory or by the dealer loader.

Well, I went to the page put the name into the remote, but could not figure out how to save it after adding the last letter.

 After naming hit the "D" for done.

just hit the letter d? I will have to try that. Do you know what sequence ofbutton need to be pressed to get the mileage and hours? Just curious?

I don't have a remote at the moment but the "D" is after the alphabet and numbers, not the one after c

I believe the info you're looking for will be under the "more" soft key  selected for the engine.... Find the "|more" and scroll down.
