About 6 minutes into the movie "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" is scene involving a circus train. Poking out of a boxcar that young Indie runs across, are two giraffe necks and heads reminiscent of Lionel's 3376 car.

I used to wonder about that car (and the one that appears in the animated feature "Dumbo") until I saw a little factoid at the LA Zoo that Giraffes can get to over 19 feet tall. So the scene in Indana Jones and the Last Crusade seems pretty plausible.
But it does make me wonder what happens when a low clearance situation occurs. Do they actually duck?
The train sequence was filmed on the Cumbres & Toltec railroad that runs through Colorado and New Mexico. A really great ride!
Did circuses even have giraffes? (Never went to one...)

From what I read today, neither of Ringlings circuses have giraffes any more. Here's a link to a story about one that escaped from a circus in England in 2012.
