So this is somewhat of a hybrid question...

I'm trying to 3RS my Lionel S2 Turbine.  I've put on Precision Scale's Pennsy headlight for my K4 and M1b and I think they look great.  When I did the same thing for the Turbine, the headlight looked overly HUGE.  Though they look identical, could the one that was used for the Turbine be slightly smaller than used on the M1s and K4s?

It's probably my eyes, but I thought the L1's headlight looked a little bigger than the M1 here.

I know, I'm splitting hairs.

Thanks for humoring me.  I thought maybe @Keystoned Ed might have an answer?

PRR's postwar headlight was smaller than the earlier ones.  It also had the reflector exposed (sort of) at the rear whereas the early headlights had the reflector inside the overall headlight casting.  IIRC, 6200 always had the smaller postwar light.  Everything else ended up with a mix, even after the front end revisions which moved the light to the boiler top and the generator to the boiler front.

@Big Jim@Larry Mullen states this is a postwar model, introduced as the 671, 681, 682, or 2020. None of these were scale, but compressed traditionally.

If @sharon.ottparts gets the website running again, I'd suggest taking a peruse to see if they made an elevated headlight boiler front like they did for the 671 lineage locomotives (See part 675gf-EB contrasted to 675-14d-EB and 675-14GK-EB for the original and raised lights):

Sorry, @bmoran4, the post war reference was meant for the actual PRR engines.  At some point after the war, PRR changed the headlight housings on some (?) of their steam engines.

The model in question is the Lionel Legacy scale Turbine...I don't have the product number.

For comparison, here is the M1b, K4 and the most recent Turbine that I did.  All are using the PSC (Precision Scale) Pennsy "modern" headlight.  I don't think it looks too big on the M1 or K4, but to me, it almost looks like a caricature (looking head on) on the Turbine.

After I did the M1b and K4, I bought Bill Brisko's PRR headlight and while it looks very, very similar to PSC's, I think it is about 95% of the size of the PSC version.

As a side note, and sorry this is bleeding into another category, I did replace the smoke box front on the scale Lionel Turbine with one from PSC as well.  I couldn't stand Lionel's over sized hinges.

When I get home tonight, I'll post here a pic of the Precision Scale headlight as well as Bill Brisko's.

Thanks for the feedback...good or bad.
