I am in the need for a MTH PS3 upgrade kit if someone has one to sell or a new PS2 Board Set. I also need a smoke unit part #AA-2104073001.

Where did you get the part number AA-2104073001? That's not a valid MTH part number. Are you looking for the classic steam smoke unit, AA-0000070?
There are no "new" PS/2 board sets, the replacement is the PS3/2 board that replaces it.

The part number came from the MTH exploded drawing that came up when I searched the product number 20--21505-1 on the web site. On page 3 Parts List: Chassis #8 Smike unit that is the part number showing for the smoke unit.
20-21505-1 is an ES44AC diesel engine, no?
Knowing what locomotive it's in is very useful information, might make sense to supply that first next time.
AA-2100000 is the standard diesel smoke unit with the long posts. If you search that one, you'll find it's listed as out of stock.
Why do you think you need to replace the smoke unit? It's pretty rare you can't rebuild them.
Are you saying they are rebuildable? and you are correct on the engine it is a 20-21505
I almost never have had to replace a smoke unit. Occasionally there is a runaway smoke regulator and you need a new PCB, but usually you just need resistors, smoke wick, and maybe a smoke fan motor.
smoke regulator and PCB. it smokes but it just doesn't seem right. Smoke comes out at a decent volume but it doesn't appear there is any force behind it. The info I have on hand indicated it was a sealed unit so it appeared you replaced the complete unit. I have wicks, impellers, motors, wadding and resistors on hand.

To play the Devil’s advocate, you might be one of the fortunate ones that has a diesel that actually “smokes” correctly,…..A Diesel engine that smokes like a banshee ( like most of our models do) would actually mean there’s trouble,….and white smoke would mean a lot of coolant is being consumed,….until it takes a big enough gulp to liberate a rod ……then you’d see the struggle smoke,….😳

There are gaskets for the PCB to the metal, gasket between fan housing and element housing. Burned wick at the element, slipping impeller.
I have PS-2 3V board sets, but what is wrong with yours? The 3V are repairable at the component level. So it may be a repairable fault. G
I am out of the the gaskets for the PCB. The second engine the one in question is dead. no lights, sound or movement.
MTH parts has the standard O-gauge smoke gaskets as well as the ones that go between the fan chamber and the main bowl, and even the motor gasket.

Motors and impellers? Got those as well.

I do believe you are correct on the volume of smoke I can't find anything wrong. Everything I checked is working just fine. Thanks for the insights.
