PS2 400e problem

I'd venture it is a problem with the trailing or leading trucks - not the drivers. Take the trailing truck off and run it around, see if the noise goes away. Do the same with the lead truck if that fails. I've heard repro 400E's make all sorts of terrible screaching noises when going around curves, and it usually comes back to being the trucks binding up because the wheels aren't spaced properly on the axles, or, they simply don't have enough oil on them.

Also check the diecast axle bushings and be certain they are lubricated - I use a dab of grease on each bushing so they easily slide up and down in the truck frame. This is especially important on curves, even 72" curves!

I had a problem like this with a 9e but take the bottom motor plate off and check the worm gear on the axle, it has a set screw and it may be loose, I tightened mine and had my noise go away. good luck.
