I'm in the process of acquiring a PS2 locomotive with a BCR already installed. The locomotive has only been run on DCS. I don't have DCS on my layout, just a Postwar ZW with added circuit protection and TVS diodes. The locomotive should just run when power is applied to the track (once the BCR charges) correct? I assume it will respond like a TMCC engine when placed on a non-comand layout. Thanks.

The TIU puts out a DCS "Heartbeat" over the rails. If the engine does not see this, it goes into a conventional mode.
With a BCS, give the engine at least 30 seconds or so before trying to get it out of neutral. Also, pay attention to the smoke unit.
Thanks for the reply. I figured it would work like a TMCC engine placed on a conventional layout.
I plan on letting the engine in neutral for a minute after startup, like a PS1 engine with a BCR, before hitting the direction button.
