Had a fellow bring in a PS 3 steamer yesterday.  The engine had a few symptoms.

First it would not run or startup in conventional.

I could add it to DCS but  when start up the headlight only came on when it was in motion. All other functions appeared to work. When power was interrupted it shut right off and the DCS system couldn't find it again when power was restored.

DCS reported the "battery Level" was low.  Now knowing this is a PS3 I suspect that also tells you the condition of the capacitor charge?

Now I suspect with low or no voltage it couldn't properly shutdown to write itself back to memory.

Any thoughts.

Different memory locations are reset for PS-3.  Many revolve around motion.  I can't explain why it would not start up in conventional, but load and operate (with issues ) in DCS.  The good news if you can get it to be recognized by DCS you have the opportunity to use the loader program and reflash the program.  I have restored 1 or 2 misbehaving boards that way.   G
