Well I'm struggling with this again. The head light and tail lights work as they should. No other lighting does. There's no change from any softkey pushes? The one ditch light comes on in forward and the other comes on in reverse? No lights flash on any function output no matter what's changed.

I've loaded 2 different sound sets + the one it came with and no changes. The only button I see to swap chain files on the new 5.0 loader, says it's for HO engines only? I thought there was something on the old loader to do this? Are the function outputs controlled by the chain files or the sound files?

I'm getting upset with this set of instructions and results. I've been in contact with people on emails and posts and they tell me I'm doing something wrong. That always gets me a laugh. I triple check stuff and it's always my fault. Urrggg. The ditch lights are marked specifically for them and I traced the wires to the 40 pin plug to be sure. Anyways no other lighting function is working as they should.

It is a full PS3 board from the new diesel upgrade kit. I tried the PS3 sound set from a SD70ACe w/ PS3. I did not change the chain files yet. I just got home.

The original sound set loaded does not switch the lights on or off, or have any flashing lights like beacon or mars. No soft keys change any lighting functions.

It must be in the chain files.

Thanks.

I wish I had stayed with my older loader. I didn't think it was up to date enough for PS3 files. I can't go back as something has been changed in the older computer and it won't allow the older loader to connect to the TIU when re-installed? It won't connect to the ports. I tried to find a way to reconfigure it. I ended up stuck with the new loader in my old computer for now. At least it connects.

The chain files are swapped with the button labeled for HO only?

Right, you have to load the chain file that came with the PS3 soundfile.

Here's from the diesel ps3 upgrade manual.....located here page 30..

STEP 3: Select the Proto-Sound 3.0 file from the results list. Right click and save the Proto-Sound 3.0 Consumer Package file in .zip format to your computer. Save it in the My MTH Files folder, located in C/Programs/MTH DCS Loader/My MTH Files, so the files will be found easily.

STEP 4: Name the engine so the name appears on the DCS remote using the Edit Name DCS feature under Engine Setup. Add the engine to the DCS system. The engine will add, but no name will appear next to the engine address number. Use the edit name feature to add the engine name (limit 16 characters). Select the engine sound file from the results list. Remember to select a Proto-Sound 3.0 file. Right click and save the file to your computer. Search for PS3 equipped locomotives in the same gauge using the Service Page on the MTH website.

Download the Consumer Package file in .zip format to your computer. Save in the My MTH Files folder located in C/Programs/MTH DCS Loader/My MTH Files location so when using the loader the files will be found easily.

Unzip the file one time to the same location to expose the Sound file (…F4x.MTH) and the Chain File (chain or code.zip). Use the appropriate icon on the loader to install the sound file and the FLASH icon on the loader to load the chain file into the engine. Use the DCS Loader Program to load the sound file into your engine.
