Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and could use some help.
First - do we have a schematic of the upgrade kits? I am looking for specs on all of the outputs (E&A)
as well as wiring diagrams similar to what the 1912 kits has in it. IMHO The 1911 kit is poorly "diagram'd."
Second Question
I have upgraded several older original protosound locomotives both diesel and steam so far with no issues, but this one has me stumped.
3 nights ago, I installed a 1912 kit into a GP38-2. I stripped it down to the motors, gears and trucks.
Then built it up with the kit and a brand new ps3 style smoke unit. I downloaded and installed a ps3 GP38-2 sound file and it tested and ran great. All functions seemed to work properly, and I was particularly fond of the old muscle car type of sound this engine made so I must have "tested it" for 3 hours reving it up. 2 days past and then it developed a sound pulse that is hard to describe.
If I were to compare it to other electronic failures, I would say I have voltage creeping into the amp. This happens once the engine is warmed up, say 2 min into running it. Its only the sound, and it will pulse similar to a 60 cycle frequency. The pulsing removes the engine sounds on and off at that rate. They seem to grow and get stronger if left on. Then, when I shut the engine down, I can hear a faint pulse almost a ticking while track power is on and the engine has been shut down.
None of the trouble shooting guides give me a place to start, and nothing comes up when I search the forums.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for the help!
