Question on a early 601 passenger car.

You have the 2nd version of the 601 there.  the 602 was the baggage.  No observation made for these pullmans.I believe these came with 152s mostly and maybe 154s. Figure 1919-1923 or thereabout .

Thanks Rob I corrected the numbers on my original post. Had the car originally as a 601 but copied it wrong. So it look like a observation car was never made in this style?

Rob is correct, no observation car. I could be wrong but believe the 152 pulled a 601 & 602. The 154 pulled 601,601,602. Early version of these cars were pulled by 706 also. Neat cars hard to find in good condition

Went looking in my stock that I have and found a 602 baggage car.
This car needs work, the roof mount is there but came off, needs to be soldered on.
Both  the 601 and 602 needles to be repainted. Also in the picture are a 150 and 152. Both engines run. The 150 needs to be repainted and the 152 paint is in bad condition. What would the forum suggest to use as a two car set, the 150 or the 152?

Totally your call Ron, but the 150 didn't pull those cars. Looking at your photo unless the paint is really bad on the 152 601 602 on the other side I'd run 'em the way they are after fixing the roof strut. 

But that's my 2 cents

John I might take your advice as O m working on a 253 that was in very bad condition and to add another one will take away the time I need for the 253. I will just clean what I have and JB weld the roof cross member on, replace missing couplers and a wheel set. It would be nice to add this set to my collection.
