Thinking about buying one of these for use with a Cab-1L/Base-1L system. Would like to hide it in an out-of-the-way location.

Is there any reason I cannot leave it in conventional mode with the voltage at max for use with TMCC? Let's say the Powermaster is address ENG 50 and I want to control ENG 2, if I set the CAB-1L to ENG 2 the Powermaster will ignore all commands and just sit there with the output at 100%?

I am trying to avoid touching the command/conventional switch on the Powermaster if possible.

I should mention that the layout in question already has a block system for conventional control, so I understand that conventional engines must be stored in de-energized blocks!

Thanks in advance.

No reason at all that you cant. I leave my Powermasters in conventional all the time. doing this you can limit the speed of any locomotive be it conventional or command. I have learned to reduce track power when certain friends come to run trains. Saves some unintended derailments. My three Powermasters that power track are addressed, tr1, tr2, and tr3.
