While I'm waiting for 3D parts for my well cars, I used the free time to do this little thing;

Starting from this photo,

relaycab4a

Then a 3D drawing without details to validate the design,

20-01-1193 relay cabinet

Made a 2D plan for exact dimensions

20_02_1192 relay cabinet

It's not very clear!!!!

And a transparent view to check if all pieces are in place

Finally, built and painted

relay cabinet

relay cabinet_2

The paint has hidden (or eaten!) the louvers (relief decals from MICROMARK)!!

Funny to do and a cost around 0 €! only remaining pieces of styrene and 10 mm of 0,5 mm diameter brass wire!

Next one to come:

CSX_Cum-Sub_145-MAGNOLIA-relay-boxes

I suppose that the box beside is for the batteries?

If interested, I can send a copy of the 2D drawing in envelope; I can't have a better clearness! and if some have SKETCHUP on their computer, the 3D drawing is also available (made with SKETCHUP 2017).

Very nice! I also think there is a market for things like this. I dabble in electronic projects (mostly stuff that others discuss here on the forum) and these type of projects sometimes need a place to be hidden beside the tracks. Your utility panels would be great for this. I am sure there would be many other uses as well. I think the smaller 'batteries' box would also be a good item to have for hiding things. Thanks for posting!

Yes, TR 2001, a good drawing and the work is half done! and SKETCHUP is very easy for this kind of building; it's just a shame not to have an access to the "LAYOUT PART" like the pro version! but it's too expensive for me! perhaps a light version would be preferable in the free version..... (I've seen you are a user of SU too).

Tuscan Jim----> thanks for your comment! here is the outside with batteries boxes along a french track:

We also have our taggers.........!
