I found one for sale, new in box. I read the manual online and it says...
• Horn/Whistle: Activate by pressing horn/whistle button on your
transformer or Cab-1.
No mention of addressing the boxcar so it should work by pressing the horn/whistle button on my Cab-1. Right? Anyone have this car and how well does it work?

It is RS1 and works reasonably well. It uses a Hall switch for chuff rate. I have converted a few to RS4 with excellent results. It is for conventional only,I am not familiar with the cab 1.

I can make it work with my DCS remote running in conventional control.

The car was featured in Lionel's 2000 catalog. I don't know if that information helps.
Alan (ajzend)...How did you make it work with your DCS remote? I'm not familiar with DCS but your explanation may apply to my CAB-1. Are the sounds good?
