Here in the Pacific Northwest, we often get weather brought directly from southeast Asia (for example, a lot of debris from the Japanese Tsunami has come ashore at the coast here). Over the weekend, we got a river of airborne water from some storm to hit there, on a direct express to drench us with "east coast" style rain. Other than a merciful gap during prime trick-or-treat time Saturday evening, it rained all weekend long.

I decided to try my hand at shooting in the worst weather and Light I could find, just to see what came of it. Now that I have a much nicer/newer camera, I figured I might get some decent stuff.

The Chehalis WA group fired up their 2-8-2 for the first time this year after a very prolonged 15-year rebuild that kept the entire operation closed all summer long. They ran a pumpkin train on the 31st, in the worst rain we've had since last winter.

The other shots were in various locations around the area.

Any Radioactive debris?

I've heard that there is some background readings in a few of the items that have washed up. At one point it was showing up all up and down this part of the coast, but I never went out to the beach to see it. I'm from Florida originally, so the beaches here, to me, are beaches only in the Webster's definition of a land mass meeting an ocean. They're not a place you'd go swimming or get sun, even in the summertime.

Yeah, like Ted mentioned, it gets really old, really fast. I've lived here since 1998 having moved from the South. The summers are great if you don't like the heat, and the winters aren't horrible for snow. But the rain really gets you down after a few years, and we can get some nasty windstorms which can cover multiple states at one time. Just Google Pacific Northwest windstorms to see what I mean. And you always have to check for historical flood data when looking to build somewhere as plenty of new construction takes place in flood zones.

My first winter here, it rained every single day for 97 days straight. I'd thought I made a serious mistake to come here. Last winter wasn't too bad, we had plenty of spells of sun, only a couple of minor windstorms and no flooding.
