Realizing some street running

Very nice. Street running is quickly disappearing. Too bad, because it's one of the more interesting aspects of railroading.

After a long time "offline" I come back with a small update of my layout. I finally was able to get the markings on the street. My first attempt in January failed, but now I am happy with the result.

Incredible work, Lars. Now I'm thinking about another micro-layout with street running.

It would be even more interesting if you lived on a rough street with regular trains, sometimes with log loads!

Thanks for your replies. Today I could finish thework on my Grain Elevator. Ok, the weathering is still missing. But this will do a friend for me. An this is the result:

 

 

I'm planning a layout and want a grain elevator on it.  Would you mind sharing the real dimensions of the silos and building?  I'm wanting to build my own, but don't have any numbers to go with.

The overall size of the building: Width 30'' x Depth 4'' (without shed) x Hight 31.5''

 

Silos: Hight 19.7'' x Diameter 4''

Are the cars 1:48, 1:43 or 1:50?

 

Trucks look fine in 1:50, but I always seem to have trouble finding cars close to 1:48.

These cars are pricey.  I was looking at the Honda Prelude and BMW Z4 M, each going for 60.95 Euro, converted to the US dollar that would be approx. $80 for one car.

But I have to say, the details are impressive and they seem to really fit your city layout.

 

In looking at the other pictures, I wonder, if railfans are living there, they may be lucky to have those trains running by their homes.

I am a newcomer in O gauge US RR models (prev. experiences in french N, HO, and US HO). I have few basic questions: what is the brand of your switcher, of your freight cars and are your buildings scratchbuilt or do they come from kits ?

 

Keep posting such nice inspiring pictures.

First of all: welcome to o gauge! And now to your questions.

 

The switcher (MP-15) and all the freight cars are from Atlas. The buildings on the street running scene are kits from DPM, all the others (grain elevator, highway overpass) are scratchbuilt.

The locomotives are dcc (with sound). I control them with the "Multimaus" from Roco at the time.

We will be street running on our layout too.  The CSS & SB still run down the middle of the street through our town.  

It's time to grow. I decided to extend my Street-Running-Scene by one more section.  The first work is done...

I am using the Atlas Code 148 flex track and Switches. The Atlas track is available in Germany without problems.
