Hi Sean.

The sidewalks are made of about 0,4 inch thick plywood. The plywood is filmy filled with smoothing cement. I sandpaper the cement and scratch the paving stone and the road curb with a cutter knife.

Here are two Pictures of my road and pavement cunstruction:

Street running is not only one of my favorite aspects of railroading, but totally prototypical!  Here in Utica, the NYSW runs right down the middle of Schuyler Street!

Thanks!

I've been trying to figure out some plans for street running. I'm in the process of modeling assorted buildings and have them standing on the layout, but no "install" yet. The Schuyler Street in Utica is great for planning. Google Earth has great pictures of that street. I'm also going to look at Enid, Oklahoma and Cross Plains, Wisconsin.  Thanks for the tip!

Hello everyone!

First of all I want to say THANK YOU for your replies. I am so inspired to work on thanks to you.

In the last weeks I continued to work on my suburban extension. The streets and sidewalks are fixed and filled with smoothing cement. I hope to bring some colour on it in the next days....

Hi Matt.

The pavement is made of about 0,4 inch thick plywood and the streets of about 0,06 inch thick plywood. Inside the track is a 0,12 inch thick plywood. Look at this picture for my construction:

Outstanding.  I like the technique in the construction. Thanks for the information.

Thanks to the arrival of a new locomotive the lack of motivation could be overcome. In the last week I finished the street markings on the two new parts of my layout. Now I am waiting for the crossing gate to complete the crossroads area...

This is great!  It reminds me of growing up, my dad would take me to the old Boston Naval Shipyard.  I always thought it was so cool how they had tracks recessed into the pavement.  Some was for the gantry cranes near the drydoack, but they had some lines running through and I remember some old boxcars abandoned on a siding.
