Hello!

I still wish you all a happy new year with a lot of fun in O-Scale Railroading!

In the last days I have made some work at my Atlas Trainman Two-Story House. The first kit is now painted and the porch got some real mahogany ledges.

Think it might be good to use the black stretchy cord so no accidental telephone poles are yanked out or broken? Sorry, know it exists but not sure what exactically that it is called, but someone here will fill in the info and where to get it!

Great Layout! Can't wait to start on mine this year!

I have used spandex thread (I hope that's the right translation; in german it's called "Elasthan").

Lars

Spandex is correct.

You are seldom far from perfect English Lars.

And understood even if you could have said it differently.

I'll have to keep in mind English is not your native language.

Similar to your photo... You appear to be US/UK, unless you look very closely

It took a few minutes of looking to even notice the corner in the sky.

It is very similar to areas I grew up near, so my eyes kept habitually looking up, expecting to see clouds, or smoke that might be rising there. Steel? Plastic? Rubber? Glass? Diesel train? or storm?.

But there was no smoke, no clouds Why would I look there repeatedly

Eventually, I noticed the very fine shadow...

That's one nice corner, in that nice corner.

I know you like to show that off. I would, if it were mine.

But if you crop the top, containing corner, out of the photo, I think you have a real winner with this shot. The block is a very realistic urban American scene. "You nailed it". Many more would mistake it as real life, for longer, if the sky was trimmed down.(or add a dark smoke trail for the corner shadows to hide in? 3d or real smoke to mask it the slightest bit more?...Looks great... I'm just full of too many ideas

Can you share your technique?

I will try to explain. First of all, I had to increase the holes of the insulatators. There was some paint inside and the holes were to tight for the spandex thread. Then I thread the spandex through all poles of one line. I fixed it with superglue at he first pole and spun it to the next pole. After threading the spandes trough the hole I fixed it again with superglue. I repeated this step until the last pole. An every pole has 13 holes... It was a relaxing work...

Kind regards

Lars

Thank you Lars.  I was not planning on adding wires, but after seeing your results, I will try it when I get to that stage of the layout.
