I had a bad accident due to leaving my MTH Premier O 20-96726-3560 20,000 Gallon 4-Compartment Tank Car, Safety Train #3560 in my garage. I backed my car up, and it was under the front tire. I was lucky that it was in the foam which protected it from severe damage. It cracked the car on top, popped it partially open, and some of the plastic broke, but they were luckily in pieces that I can hopefully put glue back together. Does anyone have suggestions in how they repaired damage in their situation?

eBay for $74. Two on there now. Just one Paypal payment and it's as good as new. I'd give the old one a Viking Funeral and incorporate it in a scenery diorama.
My condolences, but I think Gilly has the proper solution entirely. It's the price one pays when things are left in the path of an automobile.
I don't know what to tell ya.....i normally don't leave train cars or engines under/ near car wheels....jim
I normally keep any of my collection in a safe place. I had it on top in a place next to my car, and one of us knocked it down, and I did not know it was there until it was too late. From my childhood, I always took care of whatever I had, but this just happened at a bad time. Suffice to say, it upset me greatly. In the past, I was able to replace broken trucks on Western & Atlantic passenger cars that someone sold me from eBay. I did get a little money back from them even though they claimed ignorance.
Sorry for your loss. Condolences.
No offense my friend but if that's what you call a bad day, you should count yourself blessed as you've led a charmed life.
I didn't mean to sound insensitive in my original post. Once you start gluing, the paint/finish likely will be ruined. Then comes the repaint, color, and finish. Then your decals, if you can get them. A nice new car out of the box is the best I could suggest. As for a diorama, it's a wrecked car. I'd go with it and make it look "really" wrecked.
Look at the bright side. No one was hurt and this was a train car and not your automobile that got squashed.
I am very blessed. I am thankful that it was not any other type of accident. From a very early age, I always enjoy putting kits and train buildings together and repairing them. My momentary meltdown was the culmination of not being able to grieve the loss of relatives because they were taken advantage before and after their deaths. We also lost a family members last sibling in January. I will get a replacement, but I am going to see what I can do with the care as a challenge. If anyone needs help with an issue in their hobby, I am here.
Give thanks it wasn't a spouse, child, or pet, that people back over so often that cars now come with backup cameras (how many times in a parking lot shopping have you been backing out of a slot, conspicuously moving, and had somebody, who immediated turned into a pedestrian upon stepping out of their car, no less, has walked behind you anyway, and you had to brake hard?) Luckily, it, unlike maybe a Blue Comet, is replaceable.
You are absolutely right. A friend of mine from elementary school is in a wheel chair because her mother accidently ran over her. I do my best to know what is around me when I am driving except for this instance. A cousin of ours was killed in a hit and run when he was walking in a cross walk. I just wanted to know it anyone had attempted to repair any type of train car. I am harder on myself than others. Luckily, things can be replaced, and I learn the best lessons from my own mistakes.
As someone above intimated, this is not a tragedy, but, rather, a layout junkyard, flatcar load and scenery opportunity. And extra trucks are always good to have around. The cars aren't broken - they're repurposed.
I may know a technique to do something that may be helpful, and you may know something that I don't. I appreciate a place where I can discuss ideas about a hobby that I enjoy greatly. I never intended my minor incident to be compared with any difficulties that anyone had experiences. I am just thankful for everything.
Weird. Usually, the tank cars win in those motor vehicle - tank car matches.
And usually garage layouts are on a table rather than on the floor. So next time, don't run the crossing gates!
