My second vision line purchase arrived yesterday and like a caring new parent I let it reach room temp before operating all those grand new Electronics (19 degrees here yesterday). My first was the 700E and it's still my favorite. This Niagara is one heavy Locomotive and screams solid construction. First thoughts? Yes I think it should have had the ashpan glow as another here on OGR mentioned. Since its on the 700E and my Berkshire I find myself missing it. I do love the Locomotive based 3rd speaker, but I'm a little disappointed at the Niagara's overall peak volume level. For some reason I had it in my head that at peak setting with 3 speakers it might actually be obnoxious loud and I'd find myself turning it down on my Cab2. I will say this though, the audio is crisp, clear and clean. All the Smoke generators are fantastic, excellent smoke volume and obviously this will be a Fluid Fiend. It's a smooth runner and I want to experiment with turning off the Force Coupler and dialing in Labor settings manually. All-in-all for the few minutes I had today to run it, I'm very excited! There's obvious quality here and craftsmanship. This is not a toy and like many Legacy products requires care and the knowing that your running a true model. Thanks to all that have posted here and helped us all make informed decisions before acting.

Enjoy! A few club members own them and they are a sight to behold when running under a full head of steam.  As an avid Pennsy fan I can't believe I just wrote that for all to see! Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Yeah, well, as an "avid Central fan", I'd still like very much to see them do a PRR T-1 (or S-1 6-4-4-6) to these standards. Going off the reservation is OK. Sometimes....
