Recording on the legacy remote

Is the recording feature just for use on a legacy engine. I have tried it on a tmcc engine made in 2003 and it sort of works but does not do all the things I put in the recording exactly like it does on a legacy engine, or is my handheld goofed up?

Like I turn the bell on in a recording but it will not appear in playback. It does not stop where I stopped it in the recording even though I start the playback right where I did while recording. Thanks for any answer.
