Refurbishing a classic Lionel 132 station

I have a number of Lionel 132 automatic stop control stations which need to be refurbished.  These are the original 132 automatic control stations originally made in the 1950's.

In many cases the wiring to the stop control is rusted and missing or broken. I prefer to completely dis-assemble the model to clean and restore the wiring.

My preferred method is to replace the metal "clips" holding the building to the base with #4-40 machine screws and nuts. The photos attached show the model before and after conversion. I did not replace the original "controller "since it was rusted.  I will completely rewire a new controller and add a terminal strip for wiring to the track at a later time. The "chimney" was also removed for repainting.  It will be attached using a small wood screw after painting.

Note: The frosted window material has been temporarily removed for cleaning.

No attempt is being made to "restore" the station to its original condition.

Note: This post is intended as information for the general reader. If others care to comment on the topic or contribute ideas to further the modeling activity it is there option to do so.
