The latest TCA newsletter had a nice article on the passing of Ron Morris at age 90.He was very involved with the TCA until the end.He made and sold reproduction scenic plots for many years.I thought they were beautiful reproductions. My dad and I bought all the different scenic plots he offered. It is sad such a talented person has passed away, but at least he did well for nine decades.

Hello Friends,

I, too, did not know Ron personally, but as a TCA and TTOS member I certainly knew him by reputation and dedication.  I did have some email correspondence with him and found him to be very personable, professional and knowledgeable.

I knew someone was making reproduction scenic plots, but a did not know Ron's connection to them until less than a month before his death.  My wife and I attended the annual joint Christmas Party of the Pacific Northwest Divisions of both the TCA and TTOS in early December of last year.  In addition to the silent and oral auctions to benefit the clubs' treasuries, there were table sales among the members of some of their own items before the dinner itself begins.

I am an AF operator who appreciates all toy trains. I have a special fondness for tinplate, but it is my wife who has really fallen in love with the prewar Lionel houses and the related scenic plots.  They are one of the items she keeps an eye out for when we visit collectors' home layouts during meets and conventions.

At the Christmas party, Sherry came up to me and said, "I found MY Christmas present.  It is on that table over there, and you will know what it is when you see it."  I walked over to the indicated member's table, and sure enough, I had no problem spotting a restored small mansion and the reproduction plot she coveted.  The price was very reasonable, although I am not sure I could have walked out of the banquet hall without her "gift" at any price.

We took it home, and Sherry immediately incorporated it into one of her Christmas Displays.  It was still out on display when I heard about Ron's death through another online forum.  I am sorry that we have lost another significant star in the train collecting universe, but I am honored to have one of his creations in our home.
