Hi,   I'm trying to replace the existing directional headlight in my MTH Alco diesel engine with a replacement.  I'm not sure how to remove it from what I call a rubber grommet.  Tried youtube how to videos and can't find anything for this.  I attached a photo if you need to see what I'm talking about.  Thanks - Bob

Thanks George.  This engine was originally a non protosound unit with QSI boards in the A unit and powered B unit.  Would the directional lights be incandescent bulbs and operating at what voltage?   I installed a protosound 1 master (in powered A) and slave unit (in powered B).  New bulbs came with the protosound 1 boards.  Would the original bulb from the non powered A unit be useable with the protosound 1 boards?       Bob

For Diesel did you retain a CV board?  As John said if the bulb is directly plugged into PS-1 board, or a socket on the DCRU they are 1.5V.  But MTH used 6V bulbs if driven off CV board even if HL was triggered by PS-1 board through the CV board.

Best to test with 1.5V battery.  If bright 1.5. If dim 6V.  If off track power they are 18V.  G
