Well we are all ready for our new floor. 2400 sq ft of Imported Porcelain Tile. To save money we stripped the 3 layers of rugs, tile and linoleum. We are still open during this and hope to keep the closing down to a few days. We are adding a second set of islands and this will allow apox. 30% more product. Our staff has moved the displays either downstairs or into our two story warehouse on the back. Combine this with the upgrades to our building outside we will be done with 2/3rds of our changes. Next up after the floor is a complete interface of our website and store and warehouse inventory with a POS system. Hope to have completed pictures up next. Thanks and we are open during these upgrades!

Oh my! This makes me tired just looking at all the work involved.
I was once in your store, oh, maybe ten years ago. I bought a PFE reefer if I remember correctly. Not likely to return, unfortunately - can't see anything taking me to Long Island again in the future. But good luck. Imported porcelain tile - wow!
Good Luck with the renovations.
Maybe in Septemeber I'll hop the PJ Ferry and take a ride over to my LHS.
Glad to a see a store looking towards the future rather than closing down.
Wow!
Good luck with completing this part of the project.
Should be interesting with the new islands.

I remember when I worked at the local hobby shop and we did projects like that, alot of fun , but the store looked better after the project.
Heh, photo #3 is what the store looked like when I popped in last Monday to pick up the DCS ES44.

Good luck Charlie! See you guys soon.

In this world of so many train related hobby shops closing, it is nice to see one that is bullish about a new face lift and adding more product. Way to go Charlie, hope this is a huge success for you.
Would like a picture of the outside changes.
Hope it brings in plenty of new business.
Thank you for the update.
Thanks everyone. I owe alot to my son and our staff. They have been the "fire" inour re-birth.
Charlie good luck with all your upgrades. It was nice to hear you give credit to Chris and the staff.
Thanks!
Charlie and Chris,
Congratulations and good luck with the renovation.
Nassau Hobby is as good as it gets. Good selection, good prices and great service from a staff that cares.

Thanks Erol! And thanks for helping me and Magnetta out of that recent situation!
I have to get back there soon. Money problems you know.

Am I invited??
Yes Ted, everyone will be! From Anthony Weiner to Lady Gaga!
What a great category to be put in.. Thanks Charlie.. and good luck with the store..
Need to send you an email when I get the chance!!
Charlie,
Please note that my friend Ted DeLuca works at or at least used to work at TrainWorld. He may want to come to the store as a spy for the competition. As the chief legal counsel for Nassau Hobby, I will get an injunction against Ted sop he can't come to the party.
Hi, Ted. Hope you are doing well. We haven't spoken in a long time.

Erol,
Thanks for the vote of confidence.. Gee, I thought you knew me better than that!!!
Ted,
I hope you know that I was kidding. Anyway, the real guuilty party here is Charlie as he started this thread. That means big discounts for both of us when we go to the grand reopening in the future or we can sue him.

Onward and upward Charlie. It just goes to show folks that when someone works hard at their business, with good friendly service and fair prices our local hobby shopes can thrive.
I think I just may make a point to Drive up to check the place out when your done.
Good luck and have fun.
I know you were kidding Erol.. just looking for a little sympathy and got it from Charlie!!
Now he is really on the hook!!!
A friend (Big Dave) and I picked up a couple of items from Nassau's booth at York this spring - Great people to deal with.
Best of luck to you with the re-opening!
I owned/operated a retail shop (Uncle Sam's Hobby Shop) near New Orleans about 26 years ago. Tough business back then too.
You guys need a break and a better climate! I will treat your entire store to pizza if you move your store to the Williamsburg/Newport News area, lots of retired military here as well as authentic ex. New Yorkers.
Charlie and Chris-
i just got back in the hobby 2 years ago...stopped in your store and answered all my quetions before i even made one purchase. You guys are a class act. Look forward to the grand reopening ...please send me an invite!!
Charlie, I thought your store was in nassau county Long Island NY?
Good luck with your remodeling project Charlie. Can't wait to see the finished project!

Mudding? What was your prep?
That photo as it was says the floor needs scarifying. Guessing that was done??
