Does anyone know of a suitable replacement motor for these older 6-18149 Union Pacific Veranda's. The Lionel website has them listed as unavailable.

I seem to remember that this topic has come up before, and you might try doing a forum search. That might be more helpful than what I can tell you.
The two motors used in the TMCC Veranda were Pitmanns but of the smaller 8600 series. When I searched for a replacement some years ago, one of the motors (with the flywheel) was still available on LionelSupport.com; in the end I did not find a suitable alternative to a Pitmann and got one of those. Not sure what is used in the Legacy Veranda but it won't be a Pitmann so there must be an alternative.
Nothing scientific about this but my concern with the alternatives I looked at was whether the motors that might fit would have sufficient torque to move the Veranda; all the Pitmann possibilities I looked at were the wrong size to fit.
What's wrong with the old motor? Pittman motors are usually repairable.
I’m with John on this one, unless it’s smoked inside, these are very rebuildable …..even the small 8000 series motors have similar construction of the big 9000’s …

Sorry for the delay, I did not think that I received a response. My son just got a Veranda, and he was just looking for spare parts.
