My CAB2's display has gone haywire...sometimes the icons get screwed up, or they don't show up for work at all. same with the top display and sometimes no display at all. Lionel said it may have to go in for a fix, but I decided, based on age to just replace it with a new system. Is there an easy way to transfer the current base/cab2 databases to the new system? I have backed up the database using the Legacy System Utility. Can i simply plug in the new system and "restore the database' via the WiFi? My current system software/database is loaded with the most current versions for both Base and CAB2. I did that to get the GG1 icons to appear.

Yes, you can back up the base to your computer using the Legacy system utility then restore it back to the new base. If you buy a new one I'd still send it in to Lionel as the repair the legacy system for free
Oh, great news. Thanks. I'll also send the system to Lionel. Talk to us did not mention the repair was free.
I bought a new 990 set for a spare set and the readout was messed up. Lionel has been very responsive to Legacy base and controller issues. Turnaround for a friend was about 3+ weeks just recently.
I have an extra set, just in case, as well as the #993 charger. However, I sent them all in for the charging system upgrade and it was all done for free.
Thanks. I'll swap out the funky one and send it to Lionel.
Is it possible to use two CAB2 controllers off one base? I'd like to be able to do that so I can run trains at the same time my grandson is running them.
We routinely run 6-8 CAB2 at club events on the single base. That's the whole point!
Good point!
I just got my older Cab2 and Base back from Lionel. They repaired the Remote, upgraded the Base charging system, and installed V1.6. All no charge. Thank you Lionel Support. BTW I purchased this in 2010. RICH
Rich, how long did it take sent in to back?
I sent 2 sets in for a friend which were received by Lionel on March 2nd, and they came back on March 29th.
