I received an email from RMT offering the 4921 GG-1 for $199. I also received an email from Heartland Hobby offering what appears to be the same engine, under the OLR brand, for $110. I have no idea what is going on here.

Where have you guys been? No insult intended, but this has been a hot topic for a week or so.
There are a couple of forum sponsor's (Pat's and Nassau) who have openly posted about having this line of products. Shouldn't be too far down on the forum listings... first, second or third page.
If anyone is unsure what the 0-Line products look like, either check the RMT website or do a Google search and you'll find pictures... at least I have for everything I've looked at so far.

Sorry to hear that Rat! Not fun... a friend of mine just had a partial and it was still very painful.
Pat's Trains already has the listings on their website. Some are already sold out. Scroll under his Manufacturer to the O-Line Products listing. There's stock cars, woodside reefers, a few box cars (all traditional size), the traditional GG-1, a few traditional cabooses (based on the old K-Line standard) and a few scale NC5 types. Tanks cars too and a few hoppers and ore cars... all RMT repackaged items, but at better prices!
Nassau Hobby says they'll have them listed ASAP.

Interesting, at $199 RMT is making a nice profit, I am assuming that OLR and Heartland Hobby are both making a profit at $110.

I wonder if Walter considered buying the entire Heartland stock to get it off the market.
I'm guessing the entire shipment was destined for Walter to begin with. It was lack of ability to buy it then that created OLR in the first place.
This reminds me of the time about 10 years ago when K-Line went out of business. "Sun Models" came forward with blowouts of the K-Line scale Pacifics, Mikados and Berkshires. Once that stock was gone, so was Sun Models.

Do not automatically assume that OLR and Hartland are both making a profit at $110.
Something happens and RMT can't take everything they ordered, or maybe the manufacturer makes an overrun, and there's product just sitting somewhere taking up space. The manufacturer has already invested the materials and labor to produce it, now they have to warehouse it. There is a cost to warehouse product; it's not free.
Maybe they try working it out with RMT to take the product, but they can't get it done.
So they find a wholesaler to take the entire lot of product. In return for wholesaler taking it all, manufacturer sells product at less than normal profit, at actual cost or even takes a small loss. Remember, a small loss selling to the wholesaler is better than a large loss by doing nothing.
The wholesaler now has a ton of product they need to sell quickly. So they offer it to retailers they know have the resources to handle large volume. The wholesaler is banking on making the profit by selling a volume of product quickly.
In reality, the retailer could make the largest profit of all, and that may not be much On these items. But it might bring them a new customer, and that new customer may buy other items, either now or in the future.
