I'm about to head over.  That is good news about Sunset.  I was planning to talk to them next week in Chicago, but I'll take the opportunity now.

As for the crowds, once they started advertising the show with some billboards and I think a little tv time, the show has exploded.  It can be hard to get down the aisles at times.  The good news is I can generally glance into the vendor spaces from the aisle and tell if I need to go in.

Well, just back from the show.  Every time I go it seems to get bigger.  There were a lot of manufacturers present, which is a newish phenomenon.  At least in force.  Not many that do O scale.  Sunset was present, as well as MTH.

Another new feature this show is charging for parking on top of admission.  I managed to snag a spot on the street and hoof it over.  I also heard a vendor talking about how the facility ownership had changed recently and how he anticipated the cost to vendors and guests to increase within the next several shows.  I will eventually bail out as the show is really a crap shoot for 2-rail items.  Most times I walk out empty handed. Today I managed to find a book on the Central Vermont.  I used to look for the vendor that had back issues of magazines, but I haven't seen him in a number of shows.

The show seemed to start as a toy train gig.  As it's gotten bigger, it seems to have become more of an HO and N scale show.  It's a tough go for 2-rail.

Hi Erik,
I won't be at the show tomorrow.  One day is usually enough for me to see what's available.

I was going to chat with you today.  You passed by while I was talking to Jonathan at the Sunset booth.  When I went by your layout in back I didn't see you and figured you were out checking the show.  I would like to follow up about coming to a club event soon.  Shoot me an email if you want to discuss it further.  Sorry I missed you today.

Ok Jim!
Trinkle trains had a great chance to visit with engineers from both UP and BNSF yesterday.

This is my good friend Chris Campion a 3rd generation BNSF engineer. Trinkle and Chris had a long discussion about his coal cars.

These fellas are both engineers at UP and were reps for Operation Lifesaver. Carlos Hernandez was telling us what a pain the SD70 Heritage units are. He thinks they look fantastic in an OMI brass import but not under his command on the rails. imageimageimageimage

Trinkle just got this model Friday! I think he has 10 of these Macs in BNSF. This Jerry Snow addition was icing on the cake for him!

The COSM guys love our brass!

We really enjoyed the show. Unreal amount of visitors. I am starting the little one young on the trains.

Afterwards on Saturday John and Volanda of 3rd Rail/Sunset/GGD joined us for dinner at Cinzetti's Italian.  What a great weekend!

Visitors from far; this fine gentleman from Georgia has been following Trinkle's coal car project with great interest. He also enjoys my constant attention to the 2 rail category. Hey thanks for taking the time to see us!

Erik, THANK YOU for taking the time to break-up your photos into a series of coherent themes, and identifying the persons pictured where you could, and it made sense to do so.

I hardly ever look at the serial photo blasts of events that present numerous photos of unidentified people (some of whom clearly could be identified if the poster chose to do so) milling about at some train show--I appreciate your thoughtful groupings and descriptions.

Phil,

I am not a member of a 2 rail club in Arizona.  I only know of probably 6 other 2 rail O people in the state.  I'm sure there are more, but we don't seem to have enough to affiliate into a club of any kind.

I actually live in both worlds because my operating club is a 3 rail high rail club.  It is very friendly and has great members.  I still purchase some 3 rail product for operation on that 1300 s.f. layout while I'm working out the details of my home layout which is 2 rail.

In Denver it was great to see the number of 2 rail modelers.  It was very refreshing to talk to true modelers in person.
