I have a 4 way Ross switch with dz-1000 machines that I am running into an issue with. I am running a relatively short wheelbase engine over it, and it stalls (a lionel docksider from 2004 6-28650. I checked to make sure it was wired properly with the rails (I bought it used)  as a first check, and it is. Do I need to use the dz-1008 relay there? I actually have them, I bought them for some switches that might need it used on a crossover, so I have them available, or could something else be wrong? Once I have one of my bigger engines out of where it is packed away, I'll try it over the switch and see if it has the same problem, it could be the frog is bad or something too I guess. FYI this is the first time I am testing it, it isn't like the switch worked and now doesn't with this engine, this came out of initial testing of my wiring.

I have run various small units over my 4-way switches, including the TMCC Speeder and the LC+ 2.0 Docksider, they have no issues going over any of the switch routes through the switch.  Note that depending on where the traction tires are and your direction of travel, you can run into issues with the outside wheels with small units, not only the center track rollers.

It's imperative that the wheels and rollers be clean on small units, and of course the switch tracks as well.  It won't take much to stall them on those switches, but usually they work fine.
