Hi All!

We have a LionChief RTR Steam Locomotive from the Polar Express Set and it's 2 years old.  It only comes out during the holidays but it's used everyday during that time.

We have the LaBelle Maintenance kit which includes 102 gear lube, 106 grease and 107 oil, but I'm still uncertain as to the approach I should take even after reviewing some older topics on the forum.

We would appreciate any feedback on where/how often to apply the lube/oil.

Below are two pics of the engine.

Thank you in advance!

The locomotive instructions should indicate where and how often to lubricate it.

Definitely lube it when it comes out of storage, and every few days of use.

Lightly oil the driver axles where they enter the bearings.

You may want to add a drop of oil where the axles of the leading and trailing tucks enter the bearings.

The locomotive may have to be taken apart to get grease into the gears.

The only way to get grease into the gearbox is to remove the trailing truck and the 4 screws on that bottom plate. The plate comes off and will reveal all of the bushings and expose the gears for easy lube/greasing.

**** USE CAUTION KEEPING THE LOCOMOTIVE UPSIDE DOWN AS THE AXLES AND BUSHINGS CAN FALL OUT OF THE CHASSIS IF TURNED UPRIGHT*****

Your photo shows some grease oozing out between the chassis and the driven wheels but I would still open it up and make sure there is grease on the gears
