Do I really need this rubber band on the wheels of my steam engines?

Not prototypical ...lol

if I cut them off will I regret it

can they be easily replaced..purchase /installation?

I never really noticed them until I saw this black thing hanging off as the engine rolled past..

is it possible my batteries are affecting my sound quality  at faster speeds the engine "chuff' seems out of sync and faint at times  ....

MTH 50-1033 DCS Commander has lots of buttons  other than emergency stop, bell, horn, direction

what will they control on my PS2..Will it operate my coupler?

I am saving for a DCS remote and TIU

does the MTH 50-1033 DCS Commander require other items to make it work?

I do not want to buy it and then learn I need something else...

Finally due to cost I am considering buying Gargraves track possibly for mainline runs

Pros/Cons//ideas for connecting to Real Trax (elevation change)

Hoping to get this off the floor soon   but it eats a lot of space  and an along the walls point to point

is my only option  a dog bone with switching....

thanks

My  O gauge LHS sells conversion pins to connect to Real Trax via an MTH adapter track  or so I am told....I would rather stick to MTH but getting to costly..I MUST HAVE  long main line runs capable of 20 to 25 cars  and yards..lots of yards... lots of reasons for the railroad to exist.. (I am spoiled by my HO set up...55 engines..most with DCC and 2 with sound...and 250+ cars..)..so my motto is go big or go away..also my LHS is selling many older stock MTH at 20% off..I can say this now because I have bought most of it...

1drummer;

Have you considered Scaletrax instead of Gargraves or RealTrax?

It is less costly than RealTrax but you will need to ballast it. Also it has a lot less switch options so far (they keep telling me there will be an O-72 Wye) BUT, it has Numbered switches, much more prototypical.

The rails are much closer to scale and are rail shaped as well. I Love it.

See www.toytrainsontracks.com for a good preview (check all the links). Also he sells a couple DVD's showing how to use it.
