Rust removal help | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I picked up a set of SF Budd add on cars from one of the auction sites. In the description it said that there was rust on the roller and wheels which was not a problem. My question is what is the best course of action to remove the rust from the wheels. I ask this because the wheels seem to have corrosion but over all are still good. I cleaned the rust off with some lubrication but it needs to be smoothed out without making a flat spot on the wheel. Has anyone had to remove this type of rust damage before and if so what is the best way. All help is appreciated. Sorry about the quality of the photo.

I start with EvapoRust and then work from there. Amazing stuff, works great to removing rust. Just dump the wheelsets in for a few hours.

Since I cannot remove the wheels is this stuff safe for the paint on the trucks?
