In the Christmas 2013 catalog was a preview of the scale polar express in gold plated and regular paint scheme. Both comes with scale passenger cars.
It looks like the Berkshires have the extended cow catcher as it looked in the movie, which I like. I think I will order the set in the regular paint as the gold is too gaudy for me.
What are your thoughts on this engine and cars?
I'm personally not crazy about the cowcatcher/pilot, however as long as Lionel uses the same soundset as the original run its sure to be a hit.
I have one of the previous versions and IMO it is one of Lionels best sounding locos because the entire sound package came directly from the prototype. You can even hear the "swish" of the bell lanyard.
