Happy holidays everyone. Quick question - im looking to add seated people to my lionel passenger cars. I know they sell actual sets which i have used in the past, however im looking to know what the scale of the people are e.g. 1/48 1/50? As always thank you in advance.

Placing figures in the passenger cars is a bit of a modification job. I used GGD (Golden Gate Depot) seated figures for my passenger cars. However, I had to cut off some of the legs, depending on the seats, as the "leg room" in our models is not always to scale. You cannot see these modifications from outside the car, so I have not lost any customers so far...

I have used figures from other sources as well, however they almost always are larger than the GGD figures, so off come the legs.

I use clear acrylic caulking to hold the people in place. It allows time for you to move them into the position you want them, and its easy to remove them if you need to move people around later. The caulking just peels off the seats and the figures. No damage done and the figures are reusable.

In the picture below, you may notice that two of the figures are sitting more "upright" because their legs are stretched out (Redhead in 2nd row top, and blond (yellow) hair in 6th row bottom). these figures either sit higher than the others, or you cut off their legs so they will fit.
