Mixy, I just read in another post about your agreement with Atlas. Congratulations!
Hello all,
Mixy has given me permission to post a sneak peak of a new feature in development.
2D train simulation and 3D train simulation. More features for track work are also in development. The choppiness is due to recording. The train moves smoothly in the software.
Please note that the simulator feature is very early, so no questions yet. It's several months away. Other features sooner.
He continues to work hard on this very nice layout design software.

I knew something was brewing.
It was too quiet in in SCARM world!

That will be a fabulous new feature, something that I hoped would develop in time!
Keep up the great work, Mixy !
Hi all
Here are the SCARM model railroad blog posts for June and July.
Read more about SCARM and Windows 10 if you plan to migrate to the new operating system and use SCARM on it.
Most users that already upgraded reports that SCARM runs fine, even faster on Windows 10, but if your case is not the same, post here or comment in the blog for any issues or weird behavior when running SCARM on the new OS.
Not sure that the simulator feature will be ready for the next update of SCARM, but I am continuing to work hard over it

The long awaited new version 0.9.30 of SCARM is ready and published, coming with new features and many new and updated track libraries. Read more details here:
SCARM Model Train Layout Software 0.9.30 Released
There are two new O gauge libs - MTH ScaleTrax and Lionel/KLine SuperStreets (10x Moonman), together with already published Marx O27. If somebody observe inaccuracies, please write here or in the blog and I will check them.
Hope you will like the new version
Mixy
Thank you, Mixy.
I have been needing the cut tool recently working on some Lionel O/027 layouts.
Also, a general note...
When you see warnings about the software install, it is because Mixy has not filed the papers and paid the fee to have it digitally signed.
Be sure to use the download link on the SCARM page. No redirection to another site or downloader is required. If you selected the wrong link, cancel and go back.
It is safe. Same as before. Helps keep this freeware.
A small bug related to the new O-gauge track systems in the last version of SCARM was discovered and is already fixed.
Please, download SCARM v. 0.9.30 from www.scarm.info again and reinstall it. After that, check in Help > About dialog box that you have version 0.9.30 (a).
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Mixy
Many Thanks again to Mixy for the continuing enhancements to SCARM !

The new version SCARM 0.9.31 is ready and published, coming with new safety features and several new and updated track libraries, including Lionel S FasTracks and Marx O27. Read more details here:
SCARM Model Railroad Track Planner 0.9.31 Released
This version should fix the "scramble" bug, which may appear in the older releases, so update is recommended
Mixy
Thanks, Mixy. I like the center rail feature. I design without rail and sleepers in 2D. The center line will really help with spacing and fitment and will time switching settings or using the connection triangle point.

OK, new problem for me. I have been downloading and using SCARM for quite some time now with no problems. Today, I tried to download and install newest version, 0.9.31, but Panda Anti-Virus quarantines the program each time I attempt the download and install (3 times now). I am really concerned about turning Panda off, even temporarily, because this is the first time I've run into any problem like this since switching to Panda a year ago.
Has any one else downloaded and installed SCARM version 0.9.31 without difficulty?
Chuck
Hello Mixy,
Is there any way to export a 3d model of a track plan? I like to model in 3dRhino for more complicated terrain so having the track plan and elevations set in SCARM would be super helpful.
thanks
alan
Hi all
I will try to reply to all of you below.
@Moonman: The sim is progressing, but not yet ready for official publishing as there are a lot of bugs to be cleared. Here is one more sneak preview video of it: SCARM Running Trains Simulator sneak preview 2
@Salvagni: The most important new features are in the settings - see more here: SCARM Settings > Save page. And there are new and updated libraries as well as several bugfixes.
@PRR1950: Try the following direct download link: http://www.scarm.info/SCARMsetup_0_9_31.exe.
I checked the setup package already with VirusTotal and 65 antivirus scanners and all they report "clean" state - see the report (www.virustotal.com/en/url/d1c4258b6ec6e84dd44ae2b89ab795db6275d3953381248513e0a80710140367/analysis/). If the direct link again shows a warning in Panda, please send it to the Panda support team to verify it for possible false positive alarm.
@Atanz: At the moment there is no way to export the 3D model as vector data, but that may come in the future.
Mixy
Mixy, that sim is awesome and I can't wait for it to be released.
Mixy,
Well, I thought about your comments and decided to install the downloaded program with Panda turned off for a few minutes. It installed without any problems, and I seem to have no other negative repercussions. After I finished the install, I turned Panda back on and scanned the computer with no evidence of virus. Seems, like you said, that this is a Panda issue with false positive report and containment.
Thanks for your help.
Chuck
Hi Mixy,
Thank you for the SCARM program it looks interesting and I will download it soon. One question can you size the layout plan and use imperial US rather then metric Measurements?
thanks,
George,
Yes, you can switch between US and metric. When using US, the workspace has rulers set in inches and you can turn on a 5" grid. You vary the size of the workspace by zooming in and out. Once it's set to the approximate size of your space you can draw an outline of your room to show obstructions (door, windows) or begin with an outline of your layout.
Can someone tell me when using the fastrack 22.5 crossover in scarm am I suppose to add the 1-3/8" half road bed to the ends of the cross over or is that already figured into the geometry of the piece when you insert into your design.
Yes, the 1 3/8" hRb pieces need to added. if you don't, you have to cut the roadbed off of the adjoining track.
I just wanted all to know that I just uploaded the newest version of SCARM on my new Win 10 computer with excellent results. It opened my older version programs with no issues at all.
I was formerly on XP and had developed most of my track plans there.
What a wonderful program SCARM has turned out to be. I especially like the automatic elevation adjustment and the ability to view the layout in 3D.
Thanks to the developer... A++++
Thank you...
Does anyone know where I can find a Christmas tree to put in my layout design. I am doing a corner layout and would like to put it in the layout but can not find one. however in scarms website it they show one in their Christmas layouts.

here you go. Open this in a separate instance of SCARM, copy and paste it on to your layout plan. Mixy made these, that's why they are not in the objects library.
Merry Christmas!

here's my new under the tree for this year-O36 FasTrack Twice Around with a 22.5° crossover 7' x 5' footprint that can be made a little smaller. it keeps the train in a good side view in the front.

Have you figured out how to do that?
The Christmas tree was specially rescaled to be as in 1:1 scale with manual editing of the library file. However, I do not recommend such edits, because even one wrong parameter may crash the program.

I just went on the website and my computer blocked it saying there was a "known threat" on it. Has this happened to anyone else?

Not sure this applies to you, but thought I'd quote the earlier report/comments and save you the time to read back a few posts. I've been on the site several times the past few days with nothing reported by AVG.
I had the same issue awhile back. Norton antivirus quarantine the entire program and blocked their website. I called Norton to fine out what was going on as my laptop started acting up. They did a remote scan and found a malworm. Wasn't Mixys fault it was in one of the libraries files that I was downloading. It took them about two hrs the restore my laptop. I have recently down loaded the latest program without any issues. I would contact Panda and find out why it was quarantined. To be honest I rather have a false positive. It wouldn't be the first time a bad actor had found a way to insert malicious virus on a legitimate website.

Use the "official download link", not one of the flashy advertiser looking links.
I cannot open a SCARM file when it is an attachment to a forum post. I left click on it and a word file opens. There are no download options when I right click on it. I cannot find a way to download working file to my computer. I am using Windows 10, but I just removed the original SCARM file (downloaded with Win7) and downloaded another file, still does not work. What am I missing.
Ron right click on the file and then click "save link as". This will open a window as to what location on your PC you want to save it. Then just open the file as you would normally
Tom
Tom,
Thank you, that worked. Seems like I use to be able to open the file straight from the post.
Love using SCARM by the way. Takes getting used to, but so far so good.
Would love to have favorites of track so you don't have to constantly scroll up and down to get to certain track pieces I have been using a lot to design my layout or ability to sort the track by most used or something like that.
Keep up the good work.
Do you know you can copy/paste track that is already in your design?
Is it possible to specify a custom radius? For example, I want an 80" RADIUS. How do I put it into SCARM and is it possible to add it to a "track library' so I don't have to keep specifying it?
Thanks.
Select Tools>Toolbox from the top menu bar,. Then the box has a drop down menu and select flex track tool. Enter the radius and arc angle of the curve you want- eg. 30°- then attach a flex track to an open start point or connection and hit the curve button and then the fix button.
There may not be a flex track long enough for an 80" radius, or 160" diameter. I could only get 26.5° max , so I would use 22.5° and get four pieces to a 90° out of a 37" piece of gargraves flex.
No, it cannot be added to a library if a manufacture doesn't make it.
But, you can select the track and copy and paste , then move on the working layout.
