This was a MTH Wheeling and Lake Erie SD-49. I erased the old graphics and used Tru Color Soo Line Red. This is the first engine I’ve painted using this manufacturer. I did use their Grimy Black and Rust to weather the Lionel 2-8-8-2 project. The paint thinned well with lacquer thinner and dried hard and smooth. Gave good run protection at 2:1 mix. The decals are High Ball Graphics and the valued customer and owner is Carl Chancey.

looks great. what amazes me is so many on here say no one paints anything anymore??!!
i have never used tru color paint and i am impressed how this turned out. did you need to spray a gloss clear before applying the decals?
Nice job. I think When I used TRU-color paint they recommended using acetone to thin and 34 psi air. It is awsum paint. I did some UP box cars.

Tru Color goes on decal ready. Easy to work with.
Beautiful work!
I recently purchased some Tru Color paints for a project...haven't used them yet.
Nice Job. Looks beautiful.
Just a small point of continuing education...EMD locomotives do not have dashes in their model numbers, except for the "Dash 2" designations. This is an SD49, not an SD-49. The original model was an SD40 or an SD40-2.
As for the model itself, very nicely done!
My Fav.....a neat clean overall job.
That thing looks sharp! I bet your customer loved it!
I, too, am just starting out with Tru-Color. And, I was also told to cut it with acetone. Guess there's more than one way to skin a cat.
Tru Color makes a thinner for their paints which I believe is acetone based. Without the thinner, brushing it on small parts like grab irons, I found it gums up quickly. I haven't tried spraying it yet.
Nicely done!
Thank you. I believe I typed it wrong for Harry-I am behind the learning curve for sure! Sorry ya'all Vicki ( aka the secretary)

A-HA! Now I understand why the Avatar for "Harry's Trains" is a female!
You did just fine, Vicki. Keep up the good work. Tell Harry I said hello.
