How do you Guys and Gals that service your own 3 rail 'O' scale trains accomplish these tasks?

Servicing equipment upside down, i.e. type of cradle?

What about when service and repairs are complete, or testing before hand?

Do you use a test track, static display (w/ rollers), or just on your Layout?

For working on things upside down I have a foam work cradle from Bowser, but I often find it to be very snug on some locomotives. I've debating building something adjustable and using foam to pad it out, which would be helpful for things that need to be put at an angle rather than just straight upsidedown. I also got a set of O-Gauge test rollers from Proses which usually work okay but can be tricky to get positioned right depending on the locomotive, especially larger steam+tender.

I'd love to invest more in a test bench for the electrical side. Being able to test things like different smoke units, and having everything I need to upgrade older analog engines with new electronics would be great.
