Is there a way to program a TMCC/Legacy engine to only go in one direction even after the power is cycled to that engine? Equivalent to the old style engines with mechanical e-units where you would move the lever to one side to keep the engine in one direction.

Thank you;

Bill;

 I am trying to run some of my TMCC engines in conventional mode where I want to start and stop them in an automated setting. Example: running two trains on the same track where one train moves onto a by pass track and stops until the other passes on the mainline and then the train on the bypass track will start automatically and move onto the mainline.

Thanks;

For what it's worth, when using a computer to control TMCC equipped engines through the TMCC system  over a serial connection, you can issue a 'forward direction' command to the engine.  You can find the command protocol starting on page 36 of the TMCC manual: https://www.lionelsupport.com/...ents/71-2911-250.pdf   The forward direction command is really simple, it's all zeros in the command and data fields.
